Biography
Vicky Paul is a contemporary abstract painter and intuitive living and working in Edinburgh. She believes we carry inside us everything we seek outside us, and her work is rooted in transformation, her passion for the mind body spirit connection, and the golden thread that connects us.
Inspired by nature and the impact it has on our wellbeing, Vicky’s practise is deeply meditative, guided by the process rather than taking control of it. Using texture, layers and spontaneous mark making, Vicky aims to capture the energy of oneness, elemental matter, the unseen world, all things sharing a source energy, transformation and connection. Often featuring many layers, her work reflects the complexity of the human experience, the impermanence of life, and the impact we have, and leave, on each other and the world around us.
Vicky has incorporated her passion for spiritual practises into developing herself as an artist. As she explains “I strive to capture the idea that there is an invisible force guiding and inspiring us; of all things being connected to infinite potential; the vastness of the universe; and the sacredness of nature and the elements. I want my work to act as a sort of visual alchemy informed by each viewer’s own perceptions and personal experiences”.
Vicky also creates Soul Energy Portraits - contemporary, abstract portraits that capture your energy rather than your likeness; is a live event artist; runs intuitive paintings workshops; hosts How to Be SuccesSoul podcast; and is a member of Visual Arts Scotland. Her work is part of private collections in UK, USA, Canada, Dubai and Japan.
Prior to becoming a full time artist, Vicky ran a successful Arts PR business, and was an award-winning radio presenter, reporting backstage from the MTV VMA’s and interviewing everyone from Madonna, to Kylie and George Michael. She is a qualified yoga teacher, keen rower and skier, and loves travel, interior design and good coffee!
